Serve the City

We are a church not for ourselves, but for the city.

A vision to serve New York City is core to Redeemer Downtown, as the gospel compels us to love our neighbors in need. Through a partnership with Hope for New York, we work with several faith-based organizations throughout Downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn to provide weekly opportunities to serve our most vulnerable communities.

The Father’s Heart Ministries

The Father's Heart Ministries provide services to the unemployed, at-risk youth, immigrants, and those without social or family support.

Mission:

  • To declare and demonstrate God's love through practical expressions of compassion! Volunteers can serve through meal service, ESL and GED classes, and mentoring.

The Bowery Mission

The Bowery Mission is a faith-based program that offers compassionate care such as food, shelter, clothing, showers, and chapel services for homeless and hungry men, women, and children. The Bowery Mission's Community Hope Resource Center offers vocational training and employment assistance for men and women in the Mission's long-term residential recovery program as well as people from the surrounding community.

Mission:

  • To minister in New York City to men, women, and children caught in the cycles of poverty, hopelessness and dependencies of many kinds, and see their lives transformed to hope, joy, lasting productivity and eternal life through the power of Jesus Christ.

The Salvation Army (14th Street)

The Salvation Army provides services to those in need, including emergency social service programs, after-school programs, and disaster relief.

Mission:

  • To help without discrimination the "poorest of the poor"—the hungry, homeless, and indigent who have nowhere to turn and often suffer alone because of societal indifference or disdain.

City Relief

City Relief is a mobile outreach to the homeless. They connect people to resources that lead to life transformation. Their team of staff and volunteers believe that everyone deserves a place to call home because homelessness is a struggle, not a life sentence. The Relief Bus outreaches feature a custom bus with a built-in kitchen, office, and resource center. They drive the bus to 5 locations 7 times a week. The staff and volunteers serve homemade soup, beverages & fresh bread, while also offering socks, hygiene kits and prayer.

Mission:

  • To compassionately serve the struggling and homeless by offering hope and resources that lead towards life transformation.

Center for All Abilities

Center for All Abilities (CAA) is a community-based nonprofit organization with locations in Chinatown, Manhattan and Flushing, Queens. CAA offers enrichment programs for children and youth with special needs and their families so that they may recognize their potential and thrive. Programs include a Mentoring Program, Creative Arts Therapy Program, Vocational Training Baking Program, Children's Playgroup, and Parent Support Group.

Mission:

  • To empower people of all abilities to recognize their potential and thrive in the community. We envision a world where those of all abilities can integrate fully in society!

Next Step Community Church

Next Step Community Church creates environments to help hurting people heal, from providing holistic care to those experiencing or recovering from addiction to meeting the practical needs of individuals and families in Downtown Brooklyn. Current programming includes serving at their community food pantry or breakfast, visitation ministry, supporting new parents and more.

Mission:

  • From sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, to creating environments that help hurting people heal, Recovery House of Worship-Brooklyn is equipping all to reach others for Christ.
